Most suppliers of LCD and TFT offer wide temperature displays. But these displays are not always 100% suitable for automotive or equivalent applications. Therefore we introduce you to 3 techniques that are available via DiBis.


1. ASTN:
This stands for "Advanced Supertwist Nematic" display but is also known as "Automotive STN". This type of display is mainly for automotive applications.

 

Features:

    full temperature range (-30˚C to 85˚C).
  • Fulfills Automotive durability demands.
  • Film compensated (thin and light weight).
  • High contrast (>100:1) and brightness
  • Cost effective as compare with DSTN.

2. ETN:
This stands for "Enhanced Twist Nematic" display. The enhancement is done to meet very tight requirements by automotive applications.

 

Features:

  • LCD-ETNDuty: 1/4
  • Operating Temp.: -30˚C to 80˚C *
  • Storage Temp.: -40˚C to 90˚C
  • Suitable for Car Audio

 

 

 

 

3. PMVA:
This stands for "Passive Matrix Vertical Alignment" display which is also mainly used for automotive application which required very good contrast as well as wider view angles.

 

Features:

  • Duty: 1/4
  • High Contrast
  • Excellent display performance over full temperature range
  • Wide Viewing Cone

 

PMVA can be used for many other applications where very high contrast, very black background and very wide viewing angles are preferred. More and more applications tend to have this type of LCDs.
