RESISTIVE

Many different resistive touch solutions are offered by a great number of touch suppliers. For our customers we source the right product for the right price at trusted partners.

Additional to the regular 4 to 8 wire touchscreens are now glass-film-glass resistive touch, touch lens and upcoming is multi-touch.
For all our touchscreens complete interface kits are available. It can be a controller as a component or a RS232/USB interface with cable set and software driver.

Resistive touch is the most common touch technology of all. It is relatively cheap, easy to interface and easy to mount on a display. Of course there are also some disadvantages such as relative short life time and the fact that it is not resistant to scratching.
Mostly standard 4-wire touch is used and quite well suitable for indoor use and consumer products. The improved 5-wire is more durable and could still operate shortly after scratching of the top surface. Arguably the
best resistive technology is 7-wire by Fujitsu. It is a technology with diodes that increases transparency and is drift free.

New emerging resistive touch technologies are.

Glass Film Glass

The Glass-Film-Glass resistive touchscreen is constructed by optically bonding a micro sheet of chemically strengthened glass to the surface of the touchscreen.

Touch lens
Touch Lens or Touch Window are widely accepted names in the market for flat touch panel.
Touch Lens is the perfect combination of a lens and 4 wire resistive touch panel. It not only owns mirror appearance but also has the touch function.
Therefore, touch lens is the renovation of touch panel as a front of the designning.

Compared with the traditional embedded design, the flat construction of touch lens is usually more attractive, custom design available, needs less mechanical material, avoids "Newton-rings" and therefore cost effective.

Multi touch
A new technology that is not quite ready for the industrial market. The technology was introduced beginning 2009. The developers are targeting resistive touchscreens because they're still considerably cheaper to build than capacitive ones, and from their perspective there seems to be zero tradeoff -- for sensitivity and accuracy this technology can compete with every other touch technology on the market, capacitive or not.

NOTE for embedded designers. There are a number of possibilities for obtaining controller IC only. 4-wire and 5-wire resistive controller are the most common ones, but we also support other controller IC's. Upon request we support custom cable solutions too.
